Disco Elysium is a dialogue-and-skill-check RPG with zero combat. You play a detective who drank himself into total amnesia, waking up in a wrecked hotel room in the fictional city of Revachol with a murder to solve and no memory of who you even are. Instead of a class or a weapon loadout, you build a character out of 24 skills, each one an internal voice that argues with you, feeds you information, or occasionally derails you completely, and every conversation and skill check can be failed without ending the game, with your failures folded directly into how the story unfolds. It is aggressively political, genuinely funny, and treats the player like an adult in a way almost nothing else in the genre attempts.
